Haarlem
Each year we welcome around 600 international students to the historical city of Haarlem. With the 4000-year-old Spaarne river flowing trough, the city centre of Haarlem soon became a prominent trading site. At the same time, Haarlem hosted many famous painters and became a city full of culture. More than 800 years later the population grew to 230.000 inhabitants. Haarlem has become the capital of the Dutch province Noord-Holland and has gained many historical monuments such as the oldest museum in the Netherlands.
